Enjoy eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and videos with theOverDrive app on your device. It works with Android, iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch), Kindle Fire and Windows 8 + 10 devices, plus Nooks that can access Google Play.

Download and set up the app (a one-time process) OverDrive logo

Install the free OverDriveapp from your device's app store.
Open the app, tapSign Up and then tap Sign up using library card.
On the Find your library screen, in the box enter: Austin Public Library. Then tap Go.
Tap one of our branches—it doesn't matter which one.
Enter your Card Number and password. Tap Sign In.

In the OverDrive app, tap the menu in the top left:
Tap Austin Public Library from the slide-out menu to go our OverDrive catalog.
Find an item to borrow.

After searching or choosing a Subject or Collection to browse...

can be streamed but not downloaded.
Tap Borrow if available. If the item has a wait list, you canplace a hold to get in line. If prompted, s ign in using your Library Card number and password.

Tip: You can have 10 checkouts and 7 holds in OverDrive at a time. Magazines are always available to borrow and do not count towards the checkout limit.
Use the drop-down menu to select your checkout period. TapBorrow.
ForAudiobooks, tapDownload MP3 audiobook.
ForVideos, tap Watch now in browser to stream it. Videos cannot be downloaded.

For Magazines, tap Read now in browser.Download magazines for offline reading in the Libby app.

ForeBooks,tapDownload EPUB eBook to read the book in the OverDrive app.

You can alternatively read most eBooks with the Kindle app on your device or by sending it to a Kindle eReader. For this, chooseRead now with Kindle and start at Step 5 on the Kindle instructions.

Tip: If you want to download an item later, go to Loans by tapping in the top right.
Items will load in the app. To see them, tap and then tap Bookshelffrom the slide-out menu. Tap the item to open it. Audiobooks show options automatically. For eBooks and Videos, tap in the center of your device to see icons for a table of contents, font settings and more.
For magazines, tap the menu in the top left: and then tapAustin Public Library from the slide-out menu. Go to Loans by tapping in the top right and choosing Read now in browser. Tap in the center of the magazine to see icons for a table of contents, font settings and more.
